Adventure Rangers Advancement Trail
The Adventure Rangers Advancement Trail consists of three annual medals – Adventure Bronze, Adventure Silver, and Adventure Gold. Each annual medal is earned upon the completion of four quarterly steps. All Adventure Rangers begin their advancement process by earning the first quarterly step toward the first annual award (the Powder Horn award). They then progress along the trail, earning awards in sequential order, based on the specified number and type of merits required for each step, until they earn the highest award in Adventure Rangers (the Adventure Gold award). Any merit from the specified category may be used to satisfy these requirements. The numbers shown below represent the cumulative total number of merits required for each advancement step.

Year 1: Trail to the Adventure Bronze

(1)In addition to earning the merits specified above, boys must also satisfy the following additional
requirements for the Adventure Bronze award:
- Recite from memory the Royal Rangers Pledge, Code, Motto, meaning of the points of the Royal
Rangers Emblem, and the Golden Rule. - Submit an award application to the national office for processing.

Year 2: Trail to the Adventure Silver

(2)In addition to earning the merits specified above, boys must also satisfy the following additional requirement for the Adventure Silver award:
- Recite from memory the Royal Rangers Pledge, Code, Motto, meaning of the points of the Royal
Rangers Emblem, and the Golden Rule. - Be an Adventure Bronze award recipient for at least six months, or be a graduate of the sixth grade.
- Serve in one or more leadership positions in Adventure Rangers for a total of at least six months.
- Show your ability to present the plan of salvation to someone.
- Submit an award application to the national office for processing.

Year 3: Trail to the Adventure Gold

- Recite from memory the Royal Rangers Pledge, Code, Motto, meaning of the points of the Royal
Rangers Emblem, and the Golden Rule. - Be an Adventure Silver award recipient for at least nine months, or be a graduate of the seventh grade.
- Serve in one or more leadership positions in Adventure Rangers for a total of at least twelve
months. - Show your ability to present the plan of salvation to someone.
- Submit an award application to the national office for processing.

Silver Buffalo Award
Once a boy has completed the Adventure Rangers advancement trail and has earned the Adventure Gold award he may choose to begin earning merits for Expedition Rangers or continue earning additional merits for Adventure Rangers. Boys who continue earning merits for Adventure Rangers may be eligible to earn
Silver Buffalo awards.
Buffalo awards provide additional advancement recognition for boys who have completed the advancement trail in their current age group but have not yet graduated to the next age group. Adventure Rangers who have earned the Adventure Gold award may earn a Silver Buffalo by earning the following additional merits:
- Earn one additional GOLD leadership merit.
- Earn two additional GREEN skill merits.
- Earn one additional BROWN Bible merit.
A total of two Silver Buffaloes may be earned. The Buffalo insignia is worn on the cloth portion of the Adventure Gold medal. The award may also be represented as a silver star worn on the Adventure Gold ribbon.
