Royal Rangers Training is designed to equip and resource mentors to be effective in ministry to future men.

The Outpost Leaders Advancement Levels are sponsored by the Southern Pacific District Royal Rangers office or National Royal Rangers office which is offered in various locations through the country and offer four levels of development to inspire and prepare mentors. The levels are:

  • ·         READY
  • ·         SAFETY
  • ·         TRAINED
  • ·         ADVANCED

Leaders are encouraged to complete Ready and Safety levels as soon as possible and the two remaining levels within two years. You do not need to complete your training in any particular order, you can become Safety certified before you become Ready certified. Below is a list of the training offered with a description. READY LEVEL

In order to achieve the Ready level, leaders must meet the following requirements.

  1. Complete the Ranger Basics training course
  2. Complete the Ranger Essentials training course.
  3. Satisfy the following requirements for the Ready Ticket:
    • Personally present the gospel to at least one boy.
    • Participate in conducting group meetings and activities for at least three months.
    • Read the book “Maximized Manhood" by Edwin Louis Cole. (Female RR Leaders may choose to read “Unique Woman" by Dr. Edwin Louis Cole & Nancy Cole.)
  4. Submit a Ready Level Application to the national Royal Rangers office for approval & processing.
    • Outpost Leader Advancement – Ready Level (revised 10-01-2020) – application

Ranger Foundations is an online or a combined online & hands –on classroom experience that teaches new leaders the foundational principles of how to run successful outpost meetings, how to use & access the Royal Rangers curriculum and advancement system, program structure, uniforms and much more.

Ranger Essentials is a one-day fun, interactive-style training event. You will learn how to connect with today’s boys, along with recognizing ministry needs and outreach opportunities. You will discover how to give life-changing devotions and how to mentor boys and young men into spiritual leaders.

SAFETY LEVEL

In order to achieve the Safety level, leaders must meet the following requirements.

  1. Complete the Ranger Safety training course, either online or as a district training event
  2. Complete a First Aid / CPR course through the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or any other nationally recognized provider organization. The course must include demonstration and evaluation of the skills learned in a practical exercise in front of a live instructor.
  3. Satisfy the following requirement for the Safety Ticket:
    • Plan and conduct an outpost activity with the help of junior leaders with a focus on applicable safety measures.
  4. Submit a Safety Level Application to the national Royal Rangers office for approval & processing.
    • Outpost Leader Advancement – Safety Level (revised 07-23-2020) – application

Ranger Safety Course will help leaders understand key safety issues that may arise during meetings, activities, transportation, facilities, care of children, and screening leaders. This course is offered both as a district training event and as an online course.

It is required for the safety level of the Outpost Leader Advancement Levels

FIRST AID/CPR CERTIFICATION

A First Aid/CPR course may be completed through any nationally recognized qualified organization such as the American Red Cross, the Green Cross, or the American Hearth  Association. The course must include demonstration and evaluation of the skills learned in a practical exercise in front of a live instructor.

NATIONAL TRAINING CAMPS & CONFERENCES

TRAINED LEVEL:

In order to achieve the Trained level, leaders must meet the following requirements.

  1. Attend and complete ONE of the following national training events:
  2. Satisfy the following requirements for the Trained Ticket:
    • Personally present the gospel to at least one boy
    • Participate in teaching and/or facilitating the instruction
      of a leadership merit and its correlating service/ministry project.
      Ranger Kids leaders may substitute a service project using the patrol
      system as it applies to their group.
  3. Submit a Trained Level Application to the national Royal Rangers office for approval & processing.
    • Outpost Leader Advancement – Trained Level – application

ADVANCED LEVEL 

In order to achieve the Advanced level, leaders must meet the following requirements.

  1. Attend and complete a World Class Outpost (WCO) seminar.
  2. Complete any two continuous learning opportunities of at least 2 hours in length. These may take the form of classes offered by your district, official Royal Ranger Online Training courses, or Action Camps.  Please review the event criteria on the Continuous Learning Electives page if you have any questions regarding qualifying events.
  3. Satisfy the following requirements for the Advanced Ticket:
    • Personally present the gospel to at least one boy (previous presentations not included).
    • Following pastoral guidance, get an adult new to Royal Rangers involved in leadership or service
  4. Submit an Advanced Level Application to the national Royal Rangers office for approval & processing.
    • Outpost Leader Advancement – Advanced Level (revised 02-19-2020) – application

Attend and complete the WORLD CLASS OUTPOST Seminar (WCO). The greatest benefit of this event is achieved when the outpost/church leadership attends and completes this event together as a team.

In addition, complete two Continuos Learning Electives (at least 2 hours each) offered by either district or Royal Rangers online courses or two Action Camps (when available)

Outpost Chaplaincy

Description

The Outpost Chaplain functions as the spiritual advisor of the outpost. He should be conscious of the spiritual needs of the boys and offer spiritual guidance to each. He should see that the opportunity is provided for every boy to receive Christ as Lord and Savior and  should encourage boys to seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Objectives

In this course you will learn how to select an outpost chaplain who has the proper qualifications and about the chaplain’s duties and responsibilities. You will also learn about the Chaplain Aide, a boy’s position in the outpost and how to better train upcoming spiritual leaders.

Outpost Committee

Description

The success of a Royal Rangers outpost can be greatly improved with a supportive and effective Outpost Committee. A successful Outpost Committee is one that is committed to supporting the local Royal Rangers outpost in the areas of promotion, leadership, and finances. This foundational support will enable the Group Leaders to fulfill the mission of the Royal Rangers ministry to evangelize, equip, and empower the next generation of Christ-like men and life-long servant leaders.

Working With Boys With Disabilities

 Description

This course will provide techniques, methods of instruction change, and anecdotal stories illustrating how we can work with boys with special needs. At the end, you will be asked to write a plan to help a boy with a disability. The results of that plan will depend upon your ability to recall information from this course and follow the guidelines of making accommodations for boys with disabilities.

Outpost Coordinator

Description

You’ve accepted what may be the most important position in your ministry to the church. In Royal Rangers, the outpost coordinator is the focal point for parents and church leadership, the voice and face of Royal Rangers in the local church, and he is the team leader that helps make this ministry successful. The outpost coordinator holds the top leadership position in the Royal Rangers outpost at the local church.

While the key to the success of a Royal Rangers program is the pastor, the pastor needs a go-to man with a vision to coordinate the Royal Ranger ministry. This course should add knowledge to that vision to enable you to fulfill the mission both your pastor and of the Royal Rangers ministry to evangelize, equip, and empower the next generation of Christ-like men and life-long servant leaders.
